Q&A: Luggage Storage

69275h.jpgQuestion: I have a few pieces of large luggage that I would like to keep in storage, and want to give them an airtight seal covering. The storage facility occassionally gives the units a bug spraying here and there, so I want to keep my luggage bug spray free!! Do you carry a bag large enough to cover my luggage? It’s the standard large piece of luggage size.

Answer: The only airtight solution I have would be a Space Bag® but the largest one we have may not be large enough for your biggest suitcase. I can suggest one of our new Warp’s Banana Bags® They come in 6 different sizes, the smallest one being able to accommodate your large suitcase. The larger ones could cover an entire luggage set easily. They tie closed so your luggage will be protected from dust, bugs and spray. However, they are not airtight so if you live in a humid region, I would recommend using a climate-controlled storage unit.

Hope this helps!  Happy Organizing!

Q&A: General Home Storage

pot rackQuestion:  Organizer for canned vegetables and canned fruit, silverware, pots and pans and their lids. Where can I find these? Cassette tapes?

Answer:  What is your current storage situation for these items? You can find storage for all of the things you mentioned at www.spacesavers.com. If there are specific solutions you are looking for, I can help you come up with ideas.

For your canned goods, you can place shelves in your cabinets or your pantry to increase your storage space. I also use the larger versions of these in my lower cabinet to hold pots and pans. You can also keep your pots on a hanging pot rack.  I used this solution in the first house we had.  It had a kitchen the size of a small bathroom.

You could also store your canned goods on a rolling rack.  It’s especially nice if you stock up on items or buy when they are on sale. Continue Reading »

Q&A: Organizing with ADD

ADD book.jpgQuestion:  I have adult ADD. Due to late in life (coupled with menopause) diagnosis my organizing has worsened. Do you have special specific ways/tools that ADD people relate to better than the general public for organizing, shelving and time management?

Answer:  Thank you for this question. I would like to recommend some reading for you on this topic, that may provide some ideas on how you can get some order back into your life while accepting the realities of the ADD condition.

The book is “ADD-Friendly Ways to Organize Your Life” by Judith Kolberg and Kathleen Nadeau. It is available on Amazon.com, and has gotten some amazing reviews from others that are also dealing with ADD in their daily lives and the chaos that can accompany it.

I hope this is helpful.
